AIG CIO leaves company; chief auditor named replacement

AIG announced the departure of CIO Philip Fasano today. Martha Gallo, formerly the company's chief auditor, will take over IT leadership for the insurance giant.

Gallo joined AIG from J.P. Morgan Chase in 2013 as EVP and chief auditor. While at J.P. Morgan, she held a variety of positions, including Co-Head, Technology; Business Leader, Operating Services Business Restructuring; and Chief Financial Officer / Chief Operating Officer Technology & Operations, according to her LinkedIn profile.

“Martha is a highly experienced business leader, having held a number of senior roles leading technology teams prior to joining AIG. She has a proven track record of delivering measurable, sustainable results to drive business performance,” Peter Hancock, AIG president and CEO, said. “Technology investment and implementation remains a key priority as we focus on bringing new innovations to our clients to help them face their most pressing challenges.”

Fasano joined AIG in 2014 from Kaiser Permanente. Hancock credited him with "making significant improvements in AIG’s IT capabilities during his time with the company."

"He also helped bring together a highly talented technology team whose efforts have begun transforming the way we work, and have enabled our businesses to compete more effectively," he added.

AIG named its first chief digital officer, former Chase exec Michael Lewis, late last year.
