XL Catlin appoints chief underwriting officer for casualty business

XL Catlin has named Nancy Bewlay as global chief underwriting officer of its casualty practice, effective April 17.

Bewlay comes to insurer by way of Swiss Re where she served as managing director and head of casualty for the U.S. and Canada since 2013.

The industry veteran brings more than 25 years of experience to her new role, assuming control of XL Catlin’s underwriting and casualty portfolio. She will report to Neil Robertson, chief executive of insurance underwriting.

“Nancy's intense casualty underwriting experience will be invaluable in monitoring our casualty exposure worldwide," Robertson said, in a statement, adding Bewlay will refine XL Catlin's underwriting performance by "developing innovative casualty coverage that addresses our clients' changing business risks."
