ADOBE, ITEMFIELD JOIN FORCES ON E-FORMS DEALItemfield, a San Mateo, Calif., provider of data transformation software, will work with San Jose-based Adobe Systems Inc., to develop a solution designed for the insurance industry. The companies plan to combine Adobe's intelligent forms, which support the ACORD XML data standard, with Itemfield's process-specific business rules and complex data transformation capabilities to help insurers increase efficiency by accelerating the processing of transactional data in electronic forms, such as quotations and new business submissions.

MICRO FOCUS, ORACLE TEAM ON LEGACY INITIATIVE

UK-based legacy development software provider Micro Focus is collaborating with Oracle, Redwood City, Calif., to deliver database, middleware and infrastructure software for modernization of legacy mainframe systems. The effort will enable companies to migrate critical legacy applications and use more agile platforms to lower cost. BUPA Australia, an international health insurance and health care organization, reports saving $2 million a year by migrating business applications from an IBM mainframe to a UNIX Sun Solaris platform running Micro Focus Server and Oracle database systems.

COGNOS TO EMBED LOMBARDI'S BPM IN ITS ANALYTIC APPS

Cognos, an Ottawa, Ont., provider of business intelligence software, plans to embed TeamWorks, a business process management (BPM) package from Austin, Texas-based Lombardi Software, within its prepackaged analytic applications.
