De la Sota will now lead a new division at Allianz, which will support the company’s efforts in launching new business platforms and technologies that arise as a result of growing demand from consumers for a more complete digital experience. This includes enhancing existing business models, while introducing new ones, and offering a flexible combination of personal advice and digital services, the company said.

The new business function, under de la Sota’s leadership, will also be responsible for the European direct insurance companies, the global business line Allianz Partners and the Iberian and Latin American region. De la Sota has worked at Allianz for 27 years, last serving as CEO of the Iberian and Latin American region since November 2015.

"Iván de la Sota is a CEO with a proven track record in implementing fundamental changes in retail business models. Additionally, he understands how to increase productivity and customer satisfaction while keeping employees engaged,” said Allianz CEO Oliver Bäte, in a statement. “He will be able to build on the strong foundation laid by Solmaz Altin, who as Chief Digital Officer implemented our Digital Agenda over the last two years.”
