Employers hires chief data and analytics officer

Employers Holdings, a workers' compensation insurer based in Reno, Nev., has hired Tom Warden as SVP and chief data and analytics officer, a newly created position.

Warden comes to Employers from Bridgevine Strategy Partners, a data and analytics consultancy. Before that, he worked as chief data officer for AIG’s life and retirement businesses, where he implemented data governance processes. That followed a stint as leader of Allstate's corporate research center in Menlo Park, Calif., working on the company's e-commerce and telematics initiatives, among others. At Employers, he will report to COO Stephen Festa.

The hire comes as Employers has been undergoing major change in its IT leadership. Tracey Berg joined the company as CIO in Februrary, following her time at West Bend Mutual in the same position. Employers also named a new CISO, Bertrum Carroll, in January.

A company spokesperson says that Employers is "actively engaged in multiple technology and analytics initiatives as well as a multi-year replacement of our policy administration system."
