Midwest Employers Casualty appoints predictive analytics leader

Midwest Employers Casualty, a workers' compensation insurer and division of W.R. Berkley, has named Brian Billings VP of predictive analytics.

In addition to his current responsibilities as director of business analytics, Billings is now tasked with expanding the reach of technology to include more of the company’s clients and business partners.

“This practice is a big part of our future and our value proposition to our clients and we are excited to have someone of Brian’s caliber leading it,” said Timothy Galvin, president of Midwest Employers Casualty.

Billings has more than 20 years of technology experience in the banking, investment services, insurance services, and healthcare fields, including the last eight with Midwest Employers Casualty. As the company’s strategy moved from data acquisition to leveraging data assets, Billings was at the forefront in their efforts to deploy machine learning technology for early detection of high-risk workers’ compensation claims.

“Our goal was to utilize the data to identify potential large losses and alert a claims professional before claims escalated,” Billings said.
