SATYAM AND MICROSOFT TEAM UP IN CHINAIndia-based Satyam Computer Services Ltd. and Microsoft China have entered into an agreement to jointly develop a multi-billion enterprise solutions market on the Microsoft platform in the Greater China region. The agreement targets several industries, including insurance, and will establish a Satyam Microsoft Adaptive Solution Center in the region to showcase Satyam's enterprise architecture, application integration, Microsoft Dynamics Solutions, business intelligence, infrastructure solutions and portals leveraging Microsoft products and tools.

BUSINESS INTELLIGENCE FOR CORPORATE PERFORMANCE

Lawson Software, St. Paul, Minn., has released Lawson Business Intelligence 9.0 to extend the value that mid-sized customers get out of their existing investments in Lawson's ERP suites. The new business intelligence and reporting tools are designed to provide relevant, accurate and timely information through role-based dashboards and automatic alerts on monthly and quarterly reports. Key features include a report "bursting" capability, automated workflow controls, proactive notifications, and an analytic architect.

NEW VERSION OF NAVISYS ENTERPRISE PLATFORM

NaviSys,Inc., Edison, N.J., is offering the new version of NaviSys Enterprise Platform, a Web-based solution designed to support the entire policy life cycle. NaviSys Enterprise Platform 9.5 combines product and business rules into a single tool with a single repository. This enables business users to create new concepts-from transactions to product features-through configuration of rules. The solution automatically modifies components as appropriate. Other enhancements include: improved group functionality for 403(b), 401(k) and other products; a new short-form application process; improved migration tools to make upgrades faster and less expensive; enhanced forms management; additional support for annuity illustration features; and technical enhancements to improve system performance.

INFORMATION INFRASTRUCTURE FRAMEWORK

Intelligent Solutions Inc., a data warehousing, business intelligence and business integration firm based in Boulder, Colo., and BI Research, an Ashland, Ore.-based research and consulting firm, have teamed to develop CIFe, an extension of the an already-existing framework for enterprisewide information infrastructure, called the Corporate Information Factory (CIF). CIF was developed in 1998 by data warehousing pioneers, Bill Inmon and Dr. Claudia Imhoff. CIFe development involved merging and extending the concepts of CIF with an earlier version of the Smart BI Framework developed by BI Research. New initiatives such as customer and supply chain management, and legislative requirements such as Sarbanes-Oxley, have forced corporations to rethink how they deploy BI applications, says Dr. Imhoff said. "It was time to refresh the CIF."

ENTERPRISe IDENTITY MANAGER

Computer Associates International Inc., Islandia, N.Y., has released the CA Identity Manager, a scalable solution for automating the management of user identities. Leveraging technology from CA's acquisition of Netegrity, Identity Manager is designed to unify identity management across the entire enterprise-from the Web to the mainframe-to streamline and simplify administration of internal and external users and their entitlements. Key CA Identity Manager capabilities include: flexible security policies, business-driven entitlements, compliance reporting, Web services interface, user self-service and password management.

ENTERPRISE RELATIONSHIP MANAGEMENT

Fiserv Customer Centered Solutions, the customer relationship management business of Fiserv Inc., Brookfield, Wis., has introduced its Enterprise Relationship Management (ERM) suite, an integrated product line designed to offer CRM benefits to financial institutions. Built using Web services technologies and industry-standard protocols, the heart of the product line is a business process (workflow) engine that enables an organization to pictorially develop or change business processes while the software automatically adapts to the change. The workflow engine can plug into various software systems within an organization and also drives the major components of the ERM suite, which include contact management, campaign execution and marketing, field sales force management, e-mail management and advanced analytics.
