Startup Clearsurance grows staff, debuts updated policy comparison site

Clearsurance, a crowd-sourced insurance ratings website for customers, has announced two personnel changes to its leadership team.

Tim Hey has been promoted to vice president of product development and user experience, after joining Clearsurance as a consultant in 2016. In his new role, he will implement the technology roadmap for customer experience, according to the company. Additionally, Suzanne Poirier will join the insurtech as VP of engineering to lead its development team. Poirier was most recently director of engineering at VitalSource, an online textbook provider, in Boston.

“Tim and Suzanne fill critical roles for us and will be responsible for future enhancements to our community,” said Michael Crowe, CEO and co-founder of Clearsurance.

The company, founded in 2015, also expanded its user-generated content as part of a new site release that Hey played an integral part in developing. The revamped search functions and look make it easier for consumers to evaluate homeowners, renters and car insurance companies, as well as policy options, Clearsurance says.

“When expanding our community with the new site release, we focused on the information consumers need when evaluating their risk decisions,” said Crowe. “Improving the consumer experience is at the heart of our redesign efforts and we’ve already seen a big pick-up in user traffic and engagement.”
