XL Catlin names Henna Karna chief data officer

XL Catlin has hired Dr. Henna A. Karna as the insurer's chief data officer.

Karna started her tenure with XL Catlin last month, reporting to chief platform officer Myron Hendry. Her previous stops include president of Verisk digital services, and actuarial CIO and managing director at AIG.

"We are fortunate to have Henna join us as our chief data officer," says XL Catlin CEO Mike McGavick. "Her vision and experience in designing digital innovations while motivating multi-discipline teams to deliver solutions fully aligns with XL Catlin's focus on being a market leader in providing superior products and services to our colleagues and clients."

McGavick adds that Karna also "will work closely" with XL Innovate, the company's venture-capital arm; and Accelerate, its internal innovation team, "to further enhance data, analytics and innovation which in turn will allow us to expand our offerings."
