New York insurtech accelerator on tap for Oct.
InsurTech NY, insurance innovation community in the New York City area, will launch an accelerator for growth-stage insurtech startup companies this October. David Gritz, InsurTech NY Managing Director says participants "will benefit from a dedicated advocate to help them navigate the partnership process with insurance carriers and brokers.” Applications can be filed in late July from growth-stage startups that have revenue and customers. Focusing on traction, talent, and financing, the companies will get access to mentoring and assistance from companies including Nassau Re. "New York is known as the home to three InsurTech unicorns: Lemonade, Oscar, and Policy Genius," said Paul Tyler, CMO of Nassau Re. "We hope to use the InsurTech NY platform to find and support the next set of InsurTech unicorns."
Farmers' Toggle backs Jetty
Jetty, renter's insurance insurtech company, has partnered with Toggle, a digitally focused brand owned by Farmers Insurance, for the latter to become its reinsurance provider for Jetty Deposit and Jetty Renters Insurance. “Working together, we'll be able to quickly deliver even more value to our real estate partners, as well as to the renters who are the ultimate consumers of our products,” shared Mike Rudoy, Co-Founder of Jetty. Alexa Skill launched for Anthem
A new Alexa skill will give Anthem members access to health and dental benefit needs. Through a partnership with Amazon, members can now access prescription refill, renewals and order updates; health savings account(HSA) or health reimbursement account (HRA) balances; information on their plans' deductible or out-of-pocket maximum; and can order an ID card or get a call back from member services.
