Mercury Launches UBI App in Florida: Roundup

Mercury Insurance made its UBI app, MercuryGo, available to drivers in Florida. Drivers who enroll automatically receive a 10% participation discount and, depending on the score given by the app, could receive up to a 20% discount. "Mercury wants to help make Florida's roads as safe as possible," said Mercury Insurance Director of Product Management Mike Dawdy in a statement. "Most car crashes can be avoided, and MercuryGO is a simple way to help keep drivers focused on their main task. Our smartphone app will help educate drivers of all ages and experience levels about the importance of staying alert behind the wheel, with the ultimate goal of reducing fatalities and serious injuries. Plus, this program empowers drivers to save a lot of money on their insurance."
Human API launched a new capability that allows distributors and carriers to access applicant health data and collaborate on one standard platform. Zander Insurance, Life Quotes and Sproutt Insurance use this API and platform. Rhino, a New York City-based insurtech company, has automated employment and income verification for renters. Rhino can now authenticate a renter’s bank account information to confirm employment and income status to calculate monthly premiums. "Confirming important pieces of a renter's financial information, such as their employment and household income, has long been a time-consuming, costly, and inefficient process for property owners when screening and processing lease applications,” said Rhino in a statement. “Our new features provide renters with an instant, secure, and seamless way to obtain the most accurate quote, and gives added confidence to our landlord partners that these important details are accurate."
Buckle selected CCC Intelligent Solutions, inc. (CCC) to digitize auto claims for gig economy rideshare and delivery drivers. Buckle, which provides auto insurance for gig economy drivers, will use CCC’s AI and photo technology for claims decisions so that drivers could be able to return to driving more quickly after an accident. “Rideshare and delivery drivers are essential to commerce today and our agreement with CCC ensures these essential workers have access to the best technology to help get them back on the road more quickly following an accident,” said George Rosen, Vice President, Buckle TPA, in a statement. “CCC, like Buckle, is driving innovation across the insurance industry. Working with CCC, we can deploy best-in-class AI and connect to a vast network of providers, building a strong foundation that will help us scale to meet the growing demands of Transportation Network Companies (TNCs) and drivers whose livelihoods depend on their vehicle."
