USAA names new CIO SVPs; Mercury Insurance hires CTO: Career moves

USAA announced two new senior vice presidents in its Enterprise Chief Information Office. Suhas Yerra is SVP, chief information officer for the P&C company and John TenEyck has been promoted to SVP of shared services and infrastructure. Yerra was previously the global chief information officer for general insurance at AIG. TenEyck was previously the vice president of USAA's enterprise architecture team. "John and Suhas are industry leaders with proven track records of successfully leading transformation efforts," said Executive Vice President and Enterprise Chief Information Officer at USAA, Amala Duggirala, in a statement. "They exemplify a 'One Team, One Mission' mindset which will be paramount as we enable a digital-first approach to ensure USAA's systems continue to be effective, efficient and available."
Mercury General Corporation has named Wilson Pang as its chief technology officer. Pang will develop and drive digital transformation strategies, including overseeing software engineering and technology teams within the company. Pang previously served as CTO at Appen. "The insurance industry is about risk management through data," said Pang, in a statement. "I chose to work in this business because of my passion for data and my belief that technology, data and AI can have positive impacts on people. It's my mission to unlock this potential to help make life better for our customers, agents, and team members, and I'm very excited by the opportunities ahead of us."
Chubb appoints several leadership roles within its Global Climate Business Unit. Maria Guercio has been appointed the climate tech industry practice leader, North America. She will be responsible for growing Chubb's underwriting portfolio and creating solutions to support climate tech companies that seek to mitigate the impact. Jared Concannon has been named the head of climate tech for Chubb Overseas General. "Chubb Climate+ is a global business, and Mel and Jared bring the level of technical experience and international perspective that will allow us to continue to be on the leading edge of new technology developments," said Matthew Hardy, leader of Chubb Climate+ for the company's general insurance operations in 51 countries and territories outside the U.S., Canada and Bermuda, in a statement.
Monica Ningen has been named the CEO of U.S. P&C Reinsurance for Swiss Re. Ningen will lead a team of claims experts and underwriters. She joined the company in 2006 and has three decades of reinsurance experience. She will take over the role July 1.
