HSB Connected Technologies’ is now available for educational institutions, allowing school officers and the risk management staff to have further protection from possible damages such as water leaks, mold, pipe freezing, and perishable-good spoilage.

Jack Volinski, senior vice president of HSB says that the offering ”monitors property and equipment risks and sends an alert to proactively mitigate damages that traditional building management systems cannot prevent.”

The new customized solution uses a mobile app to allow school officials to monitor properties from anywhere. Using a cellular LoRaWAN network to power advanced algorithms, the long range signals cover any school building or campus. To also better property protection, HSB’s solution collects temperature data to eliminate manual record keeping for compliance reporting.

HSB has been aggressive in applying IoT for better customer protection. It recently upgraded its sensor tech for commercial insurance customers. It’s also collaborated with CNA to target small to mid-sized commercial clients, and with Verisk Climate to help insurers and businesses predict electrical blackouts.
