Agreeing that health care reform is necessary, the National Association of Insurance Commissioners (NAIC) issued a statement today that avoids the language of a federal “option” for health care coverage, but instead talks about subsidies to back mandatory coverage for all.

“There is no serious dispute that our present system fails to cover millions of Americans and costs all of us too much,” said Roger Sevigny, president of the NAIC and New Hampshire insurance commissioner. “These are the two core issues that we must address as we move forward on the broad common ground that exists.”
