How Root plans to take its UBI product national

Root Insurance began in 2015 with the goal of rewarding good drivers with personalized rates powered by telematics and mobile technology. After a successful launch in its home state of Ohio in late 2016, the company spent much of last year putting a growth plan in place. It expanded to six additional states and launched a partnership with Lyft. The company is also exploring data partnerships with third parties as connected cars grow more ubiquitious.
