The home features a smart thermostat, keyless entry doorway, water sensors and carbon monoxide/smoke detectors, among other devices.

"Whether they involve smart technology or environmentally friendly construction, these kinds of features will be increasingly common in the homes we insure, so adjusters need to understand how to estimate and make repairs when they're damaged," said Dave McNutt, SVP of claims.

Hartford Steam Boiler contributed and installed much of the smart home technology. Both companies are subsidiaries of Munich Re.

The house took seven months to complete. "We wanted to be innovative, informative and inspiring so we could create a conversation with our partners and policyholders about LivingWise," said Tammy Nelson, CMO.
