Healthcare consumers looking for health insurance coverage under federal insurance exchanges for 2020 will get more assistance in picking their selection.

An “epidemic” of robocalls timed to open-enrollment season are largely illegal, fraudulent or aim to rope consumers into insurance they don’t need or can’t use.

Atul Gawande, MD, who has written extensively about the U.S. failure to grapple with healthcare spending, will lead the new initiative.

Details are sparse but an announcement says there will be a focus on using tech to drive better outcomes.
