Ford has partnered with Mile Auto to offer the insurtech's usage-based insurance to its drivers. Customers who opt in can share their driving data from their car's on-board technology platform to get a policy without any additional hardware or a mobile app.
Mile Auto has a similar agreement with Porsche. It is currently available in Arizona, Georgia, Illinois and Oregon.
MassMutual- backed insurtech Haven Life has launched short-term disability income coverage that like its core products is delivered completely digitally, with instant approval due to real-time underwriting. It is designed to cover monthly expenses when a policyholder is too ill or injured to work. "During the last two years, Haven Life has focused on expanding our products, to offer families more financial security in ways that are convenient for them," said Yaron Ben-Zvi, Haven Life's co-founder and CEO. "We're excited to launch Haven Disability today and add to our growing list of products aimed at making life less hard for anyone who wants to protect their loved ones." The product is currently live in 10 states.
SafeAuto is underwriting policies by Hugo, an insurtech providing a platform for pay-as-you-drive liability coverage. Customers can buy packages of days and can turn coverage on and off through a web app or by text message. Packages of as few as three and as many as 30 days are available. Live in Illinois and California, policies can be bought at withhugo.com and managed online. "The pandemic has impacted many people financially and changed driving habits," Davies said. "Pay-as-you-go plans are a solution that provides drivers with a sense of safety knowing they are covered behind the wheel while only buying what fits their budget."
