GEICO's new CMO, New York Life's new CEO: People moves

Damon Burrell has joined GEICO as its new CMO. He had held the same position at The Estée Lauder Companies and also has worked at Viacom on Nickelodeon and MTV. “We are fortunate to have someone with Damon’s insights and experience leading our marketing team. I have no doubt he will continue advancing our marketing capabilities and building strong consumer focused engagement across all channels,” says GEICO CEO Todd Combs, in a statement.

Craig DeSanto has assumed the CEO position at New York Life, which he was elected to in Nov. 2021. Former CEO Ted Mathas is now chairman of the company's board. De Santo joined New York Life in 1997 as an actuarial summer intern. “Having built my entire career at New York Life, I have a deep appreciation for our 177-year track record of enduring success in providing financial security and peace of mind to our policy owners and clients," he said in a statement.

Insurtech Polly has hired Tom Lyons as president and COO of its insurance business. He is responsible for the components of Polly (formerly DealerPolicy's) platform, as well as product, marketing, operations, underwriting, and analytics. He had been COO for Plymouth Rock insurance, overseeing its direct-to-consumer and captive agency business.
