ACORD announced it will hold proof of concept (POC) research studies for the ACORD Framework. The POC’s focus is on the creation and use of mappings in the insurance industry.

“The OMG, Microsoft, Informatica, TIBCO and Progress Software each bring important skills and elements to the POC,” said Frank Neugebauer, CTO of ACORD. “We need to be sure that what we create can be consumed by the industry and we're starting with some of the vendor community. These companies are helping ACORD, and the industry, improve how ACORD delivers standards and we appreciate their work and support.”

The company will study its use of Object Management Group's (OMG) Model Drive Message Interoperability (MDMI) standard with software providers Microsoft, TIBCO, Informatica and Progress Software. Companies will input the data on ACORD 125 and 140 eforms, the Commercial Insurance Application applicant information section, and property sections respectively. ACORD said the results are expected Summer 2010.
