ACORD Standards Fuel Operational Improvements at SPARTA, Glatfelter Insurance

Glatfelter Insurance Group, a multifaceted insurance broker and MGA/program manager, and SPARTA Insurance Co., a property/casualty carrier dedicated to writing program business with Program Administrators as well as retail agents, share few things in common.

For example, a desire to increase the ease of doing business with them and the ability to respond faster to market opportunities, which they both accomplish using ACORD standard download real-time rating and inquiry technologies with the respective agency distribution channels.

The insurers, along with their technology solution provider NxTech, were recognized for those efforts by ACORD in November at the organization’s Implementation Forum in Florida.

Thad Bauer, president of NxTech Inc., a provider of agency-company interface software and services that includes the Total Interface Solution for Real-Time, Download and Agent Portals, accepted the award for “Most Compelling Case Study” and “Property & Casualty Round Trip of Data.”

Reflecting on the awards, which were presented for providing improvements in workflow, Bauer said, “We are especially proud of these two awards because they are a testament to NxTech’s insurance and ACORD expertise and our ability to understand the customization necessary to deliver interface using ACORD standards in the specialty commercial and E&S marketplace. We will continue to push out the ACORD standards model to all participants in this market.”

The interfaces that NxTech built for Glatfelter and SPARTA are unique because they both deal with the automation of workflow with retail agents and MGAs for program and/or specialty business - breaking new ground and providing time and money savings, notes Bauer.

NxTech is no stranger to award-winning technology based on ACORD standards. The company was also recognized as an Insurance Networking News 2010 Vanguards in Insurance Practices’ first-place winner for its unique application of standards-based technology at Cincinnati Insurance.

And SPARTA is no stranger to taking bold approaches to creating top-notch systems: The firm built out its infrastructure—including all core systems—shortly after its founding in 2007. Not bridled by antiquated legacy systems, the medium-sized niche carrier was able to concentrate on implementing and integrating XML into the support of its back office systems, and work with the best vendor system solutions possible.
