Allstate Delivers Benefits App

Allstate is attempting to make things easier for consumers and employers when it comes to selecting voluntary benefits. The insurer today announced that it has teamed with health care and voluntary benefits software provider Benefitfocus to deliver the Allstate Benefits App.

With the app, Allstate's group benefits are now available to more than 300,000 employers and 12 million consumers on the Benefitfocus Platform.

The benefits app includes products such as Group Universal Life, Group Critical Illness, Group Accident and Group Cancer. Instead of filling out a separate form or visiting multiple websites, Benefitfocus says employees can select Allstate benefits on the Benefitfocus Platform as part of the core enrollment process, thereby eliminating the extra steps that can sometimes be obstacles to voluntary benefits participation. Additionally, the app supports multiple models of enrollment based upon what is best for the employer and its workforce.

"Through our partnership with Benefitfocus, we see a true path to the future of enrolling in the Allstate Benefits product set," says David Bird, president of Allstate Benefits. "Our objective at Allstate is to provide a seamless, unified enrollment experience that allows employers to manage their entire suite of benefits, including the Allstate offerings, in the most efficient and effective manner possible."

The Benefitfocus API and SDK are designed to provide the ability for insurers and third-party developers to build apps that plug into and extend the Benefitfocus Platform. This enables partners, such as Allstate, to integrate their products, content and existing Web tools with the enrollment and billing technology, Benefitfocus says.
