American National Insurance Company, a national (P&C insurer will implement Guidewire BillingCenter, a management system that will help the insurer streamline processes and better serve customers and agents, according to Guidewire Software Inc., a provider of software products to P&C insurers. American National Insurance, headquartered in Galveston, Texas, will use BillingCenter to manage its billing and payment operations across all P&C lines of business.

According to Guidewire, the insurer wants to update its technology platform supporting its billing operations so it can be more responsive to customers and agents. With BillingCenter, American National Insurance will be able to adapt more quickly to meet customer expectations and marketplace changes related to the billing experience, Guidewire said. BillingCenter also will help the insurer’s field teams streamline their billing time and effort by using common systems and practices to simplify its billing and payment processing. The company will first be deploying BillingCenter to its agriculture and commercial lines businesses, and will then shift to personal lines. The selection follows the company’s deployment of Guidewire ClaimCenter last year.

“We were looking to consolidate from three billing systems to a single system that would unify all our disparate billing processes and approaches for our policyholders,” said Brian Schaffer, assistant VP, multiple line billing services, Farm Family Casualty Insurance Company. “We recently deployed ClaimCenter so the common architecture and positive experience with Guidewire was a key factor in our selection of Billing Center. We feel BillingCenter will offer the flexibility our clients require as well as provide proper automated internal controls.”

BillingCenter is comprehensive billing and receivables management system designed to help companies automate the billing lifecycle, design flexible billing, payment and delinquency plans, manage agent commissions, and enable rapid integration with external payment systems. BillingCenter is available as a standalone system or as part of Guidewire InsuranceSuite, and can be integrated with insurer’s legacy systems or third party applications.

BillingCenter will enable American National to Increase account billing usage based on policyholder choice, the use of electronic funds transfers for payments, and customer retention. I will also help support common billing best practices and reduce the amount of uncollected earned premium, according to Guidewire.
