Berkshire Specialty Hires CNA Executive

Open for business for less than a week, and Berkshire Specialty has announced the addition of another executive: Dan Fortin as SVP, executive and professional lines.

Berkshire Specialty previously made headlines for nabbing four executives from AIG, and for Warren Buffet’s comments that Berkshire Hathaway planned to enter the commercial space in “big time” way.

Fortin previously held the position of SVP with CNA Specialty.

“Dan has a stellar reputation in the industry and a proven record of spearheading quality, profitable insurance businesses,” said David Bresnahan, EVP, Casualty, Healthcare, Executive and Professional Lines at Berkshire Hathaway Specialty Insurance. "We are fortunate to be able to bring his innovative thinking and leadership to our executive and professional lines team."

Fortin was responsible for management and professional liability globally at CNA Specialty for nearly a decade, and served as interim CEO of CNA Europe in 2009. He was also previously Managing Director, Aon Financial Services Group. Before that, he held various underwriting management positions at CNA Insurance Companies.
