Web a Main Source for Auto QuotesKeynote Systems Inc., a San Mateo, Calif.-based Internet competitive intelligence firm, reports that the Web is a primary resource for auto insurance consumers, with 87% visiting sites to obtain a quote and 58% willing to purchase auto insurance online. The results of two companion studies in a Keynote report indicate that auto insurance Web sites that provide comparative quote information and in-depth research have a significant advantage over competitors.

NAIC Improves Web Site, Adds Online Fraud Reporting

In an effort to make its Web site more friendly to its members as well as first-time visitors, the National Association of Insurance Commissioners (NAIC), Kansas City, Mo., has grouped information into categories designed to simplify searches for specific topics. In addition, the NAIC has developed a central online location to report suspected fraud. The NAIC On-Line Fraud Reporting System (OFRS) for Industry is now available on the NAIC Web site at www.naic.org. Consumers may also report suspected fraud from the same location, and may do so anonymously.

MassMutual's e4 Wireless System Yields High Enrollment

The Retirement Services Division of Springfield, Mass.-based MassMutual Financial Group has piloted its e4 Wireless Enrollment System with several retirement plan sponsors and participant focus groups this year, and so far, the results have been significant. Among nonparticipating employees who attended an e4 meeting at Chicago-based Ingalls Health System, 100% took action. HealthNow New York Inc., Buffalo, N.Y., was also among the plan sponsors enlisted for the pilot testing. The company held two enrollment meetings with 95% of eligible attendees enrolling on the spot.

ISO Handbook On State Insurance Laws Now Available Online

The State Filing Handbook from Jersey City, N.J.-based ISO is now available through ISOnet, ISO's secure Internet platform for property/casualty insurers. With the online handbook, insurers' legal and compliance staff can browse each state's and search by type of filing and line of insurance to get the information needed for a particular filing. A keyword search is designed to make it easier to locate a topic or section.

Aetna Site Redesigned to Fuel Momentum in Individual Insurance Market

Hartford, Conn.-based Aetna Inc. has introduced a redesigned Web site designed to make it easy for individuals to select a health plan. Aetna individual plans are sold in Arizona, California, Connecticut, Delaware, Georgia, Illinois, Maryland, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Texas, Virginia and Washington, D.C. The California, Georgia and Ohio plans were rolled out this summer.
