Guardian Launches Web-Based "Living Balance Sheet"

New York - The Guardian Life Insurance Company of America has launched a new proprietary Web-based system designed to help financial representatives use the Internet to enable their clients to instantly gauge their financial health.Using the system, financial representatives and their clients can coordinate accounts from a menu of more than 3,000 financial institutions, access copies of legal and financial documents from anywhere in the world, and get an up- to-date snapshot of their financial well-being through a "Living Balance Sheet."

"We are excited to begin offering the Living Balance Sheet to our field force, which will transform the way our financial representatives do business," says David Allen, senior vice president, individual markets at Guardian. "It will help our agents distinguish themselves in what has become an increasingly competitive environment."

Guardian asserts that the daily aggregation of the client's financial accounts from more than 3000 institutions and the ability for both the agent and client to simultaneously access the Living Balance Sheet portal have proved to be valuable to participants of the company's test pilot. The Living Balance Sheet is based on a four-pronged platform that includes: protection, assets, liabilities and cash flow.

"The Living Balance Sheet enables Guardian's financial representatives to help clients review specific account details in one location, working together from their personal computers," says Kathy Readinger, director, strategic alliances, individual markets, Guardian, New York. "This is a remarkable tool that will help us to leverage client relationships, and help clients become more knowledgeable about their finances."

Another feature of the Living Balance Sheet is an online vault to electronically store copies of key documents. Adds Allen, "The recent Hurricane Katrina disaster exposed the vulnerability of individuals and business owners who do not have electronic copies and access to important documents. Secure Web-based storage of insurance documents, banking information, videos, legal papers and personal items like photos, is just one of the many features in The Living Balance Sheet that will make it easier for Guardian representatives and clients to monitor their finances."

Additional features of The Living Balance Sheet include:

  • Charts and calculators that provide clients visual guides to their finances, including assets, liabilities, cash flow and insurance protection and a real-time calculation of their net worth.
  • A personal website for clients that offers a comprehensive view of their financial picture.
  • Automated alerts and alarms to notify significant changes to a client's financial picture.
  • Awards tracking to monitor frequent flier miles and other award programs in one location.
