Metromile adds to executive team

Metromile, usage-based auto insurance company powered by data science and machine learning, has hired four new executive leaders.

The company welcomes Jeff Briglia, as its first ever Chief Insurance Officer; Bhanu Pullela, Chief Marketing Officer; Jason Altieri, General Counsel; and Debra Jack as VP of Communications.

Before joining Metromile, Briglia worked with Progressive, Allstate and Mercury. His responsibilities include ensuring alignment in product management actuarial, and underwriting, working with teams in Arizona and San Francisco.

“I'm excited to jump in and continue the company’s evolution. Its proven business model started less than a decade ago and I’m working on getting Metromile to scale for increased growth so people nationwide can get access to its innovative technology that provides customers with pricing fairness and more control over their monthly bill,” says Briglia.

Dan Preston, CEO of Metromile shared that since last August “we've deepened market share for our core consumer auto insurance product and built a strong foundation for our emerging enterprise business, which licenses Metromile's technology to other insurers.” With goal to scale up the business and insight on the new executive hires, Preston continues, "Our new executives join an existing strong bench; together, we've created a powerful, unmatched team across tech, insurance and financial services.”

Pullela's priority is to lead the marketing organization for Metromile. Previously working with Wells Fargo, his marketing experience includes leveraging machine learning, customer insight and integrating marketing campaigns to drive business growth in financial services.

Jason Altieri's new role as General Counsel oversees companies legal, government affairs and compliance departments. With twenty years of experience in extensive legal, compliance and operational expertise in the fintech sector,

Debra Jack, Metromile’s first senior head of communications, has held similar roles at SoFi and LendUp, She also spent more than a decade at Edelman.

“We're comprised of veterans from Progressive and Liberty Mutual alongside Atlassian, Lending Club, Roofstock, Schwab and SoFi. We're as equally focused on loss ratios and profitability as we are on customer experience and technology innovation. You can't find that elsewhere,” says Preston.
