Mitchell Adds GPS Function to WorkCenter Dispatch

Mitchell International Inc., a provider of information, workflow and performance management solutions to the P&C claims and collision repair industries, has added a Global Positioning System (GPS) capability to its WorkCenter Dispatch product. The addition of the GPS function is intended to help enable insurers to increase the efficiency and productivity of their field operations, and it interfaces with select Nüvi models available from Garmin International.

Mitchell says integration eliminates the need for field appraisers to manually enter addresses into their GPS devices for each assignment, reducing errors and improving timeliness. Once field appraisers install the Garmin communicator plug-in, they can send their assignments from their mobile itinerary board to their GPS devices with the click of a button, and assignments on the GPS device are kept in a separate folder within the Favorite menu for easy retrieval, according to the company.

The assignments in the GPS device include important information such as claim number, appointment date and time, owner name, address, phone number and priority, eliminating the need for the appraiser to print out assignments or go back to the mobile itinerary board application, Mitchell says.

"The GPS integration with Garmin can improve dispatch operations by simplifying the distribution of claims assignment information, thereby speeding appraiser workflow, reducing claims cycle time and improving resource utilization," says Paul Rosenstein, VP of claims solutions for Mitchell.

WorkCenter Dispatch is described as an integrated component of Mitchell's WorkCenter solution, which powers physical damage claims processing needs including assignment, repairable estimating, total loss valuation, review, repair management and reporting.
