New CEO, Chairman Take Over at CIGNA

New leadership officially took the helm at Cigna Corp. today as David Cordani replaced H. Edward Hanway as CEO.

Cordani has been with the health insurer for 18 years, and became president and COO in June 2008.

The company said in June that Hanway would retire at the end of 2009. He had been chairman and CEO since 2000, but the company plans to keep those roles separate from now on.

Isaiah Harris Jr. is now Cigna's chairman of the board of directors. He has been on the board since 2005.
