The Risk Management Division of Hartford, Conn.-based The Hartford Financial Services Inc. has upgraded its @venture risk management information service (RMIS) technology. @venture provides the division's customers with customized access to information across the entire spectrum of client-agent-carrier interaction via the Internet. One of the noted features of @venture is that users can send or receive automatic e-mail whenever important events in their risk management program occur.Atlanta-based Peachtree Casualty Co. has rolled out an Internet-based claims workflow service for the property/casualty insurance industry that the company claims will help reduce loss adjusted expenses for claims administrators between 10% to 30%, and impact overall claims costs by as much as 2%. The ClaimsXL pilot program, developed by Atlanta-based Cyber-ASP, is expected to enable Peachtree's insurance clients to manage imaged claims files in real time and integrate information from third-party sources, including motor vehicle records and police reports.

Atlanta-based Insurity Solutions Inc. released its Internet-based Customer Information Center (CICenter) application, which provides both agents and policyholders with around-the-clock access to loss runs, claim inquiries, account review data, commission statements, verification of premium payments and book of business information. CICenter can be integrated with a carrier's or MGA's back-office database, and it can be purchased as a stand-alone product or in tandem with Insurity Solution's Insurance Distribution Center (IDNCenter).

NaviSys Inc., Edison, N.J., has released an integrated suite of e-commerce and enterprise business solutions for insurance companies to distribute and service life and annuity products through multiple channels. NaviSys Front Office v.5.0 enables producers and distributors to illustrate policies, submit applications, track the status of pending and in-force business and view commissions from a single location. The suite also enables consumers to use the Internet to view policy information and make changes across multiple products and distribution channels.

Travelers Insurance, Hartford, Conn., has launched an Internet-based automation system for personal lines independent agents that simplifies the quoting and issuing of insurance policies. The system, called ATLAS3, enables agents to print ACORD applications and ID cards and to quote proposals in the agent's office. Under-writing and pricing is done by the system automatically, and because ATLAS3 can be linked to comparative rating software, rekeying of information is no longer necessary.

PRC Corp. has launched Comm-ercial Intellisys, a customizable Internet-based commercial underwriting application that leverages the Hartford, Conn.-based company's commercial insurance business with the data capabilities of ChoicePoint. Commercial Intellisys is designed to collect information, "score" and compare commercial underwriting information-all within a single Internet application. An XML design enables the application to share data with other systems. PRC is a subsidiary of Choicepoint Inc.

Insurance adjusters in the field can use a Palm handheld to access real-time data about recently assigned claims and customers' policies with a new technology from DWL Inc., New York, Chicago-based Accenture and Sun Microsystems, Palo Alto, Calif. The mobile adjuster solution is developed on DWL's transactional e-enablement platform, DWL Unifi, and XML-based technologies. Equipped with a PalmVII series handheld-or any Palm handheld using the Mobile Internet Kit with the Palm.net service-along with Sun Microsystem's Sun Solaris operating environment and servers, the mobile adjuster can review and update existing information in an insurance company's database.
