Pacific Life Promotes Officers

Pacific Life Insurance Co., a provider of life insurance products, annuities and mutual funds, announced eight officer promotions. Howard Hirakawa, CFA, has been promoted to senior VP, investment advisor operations, corporate division. Hirakawa joined Pacific Life in 1990 and will oversee portfolio management, product development, operations and compliance, fund board relationships, and reporting functions relating to Pacific Life Fund Advisors (PLFA).

Edward Bacon, CMA, CGMA, has been promoted to VP, financial reporting and accounting control, life insurance division. Bacon joined Pacific Life in 2012 and will set the strategic direction of the Life Insurance Division’s financial reporting, forecasting and accounting control functions.

Stuart Holland was named VP, retail sales, retirement solutions division. Holland joined Pacific Life in 2004 and will manage the division’s sales diversification objectives and overall achievement of sales goals for variable annuities, fixed annuities, mutual funds, and long-term care in all retail distribution channels.

Carleton Muench, CFA, was promoted to VP, investment oversight, corporate division. Muench joined Pacific Life in 2006 and will oversee all fund investment matters for PLFA, including evaluation, selection, and monitoring of investment fund managers, managing asset allocation portfolios, and working on new investment product initiatives.

John O’Donnell, CLU, ChFC, was named VP, strategic marketing network, life insurance division. O’Donnell joined Pacific Life in 2000 and will direct operations, relationship management, and marketing support for the Life Insurance Division, as well as distribution management for Pacific Life’s new Prime sales initiative.

Greg Reber was promoted to VP, regional life offices, life insurance division. Reber joined Pacific Life in 1997 and will direct and lead the Regional Life Offices.

Scott Reynolds was named VP, enterprise information risk governance, corporate division. Reynolds joined Pacific Life in 2005 and will continue to provide oversight and strategic direction of company-wide Information Risk Governance.

David Ruiz, FSA, MAAA, FIA, has been promoted to VP and valuation actuary, retirement solutions division. Ruiz joined Pacific Life Re in 2004. His promotion to VP and valuation actuary recognizes his role as department head, and his continued responsibilities for the Retirement Solutions Division’s valuation efforts.
