XPRESSO AUTOMATES PERSONALIZED MARKETING

The newest design component to content publishing suite xPression, xPresso from Carlsbad, Calif.-based Document Sciences Corp. is designed to import static content and digital assets from enterprise content management systems and transform them into graphically rich, document templates to automate the creation of highly personalized marketing collaterals, brochures and catalogs, as well as customer invoices, bills and statements for both online and print distribution.

CALLIGO ENHANCES DOCUMENT ASSEMBLY

Calligo Enterprise 5.4 from Markham, Ont.-based InSystems Corp., is designed to help insurers with document assembly, search, managing negotiated wordings, workflow, collaboration and notification. The drag-and-drop creation of model documents is designed to make it easier for users to create templates for policy production, proposal generation and claims correspondence. The Calligo Customizer has been enhanced to provide simpler tracking of changes.

ANTI-MONEY LAUNDERING COURSE

LOMA, the Atlanta-based trade association to the insurance and financial services industry, is offering an online anti-money laundering (AML) course on LOMALearn Online, LOMA's e-Learning portal. The USA Patriot Act requires that all entities defined as financial institutions for Bank Secrecy Act purposes establish AML programs. This requirement includes insurance companies that sell, service, and administer certain types of permanent life insurance policies, annuity contracts, and other insurance products that contain cash value or investment features. What's more, the Financial Crimes Enforcement Network requires insurance companies to establish an AML program that includes "ongoing training of appropriate persons concerning their responsibilities under the program" and "independent testing to monitor and maintain an adequate program." Companies must be compliant with these minimum standards by May 2, 2006.

NEW PROOFPOINT VERSION

The newest version of Cupertino, Calif.-based Proofpoint Inc.'s security solution-Proofpoint Messaging Security Gateway 4.0 appliance and Proofpoint Protection Server 4.0 software-builds on Proofpoint's messaging security technology to provide rapid response protection against spam and viruses, enhanced content security features, advanced message processing features and a variety of core platform enhancements. Some enhancements of Proofpoint 4 include added support for real-time queries of LDAP-compatible directories and Microsoft Active Directory, a number of options for configuring security and mail routing policies across the enterprise and Red Hat Enterprise Linux AS 4.0 and Red Hat Enterprise Linux ES 4.0 support.

SPREADSHEET COMPLIANCE SYSTEM

ABS for Spreadsheet Compliance from Mobius Management Systems Inc., Rye, New York, is designed to mitigate risk and ease the burden of regulatory compliance by centralizing and managing the lifecycle of business-critical spreadsheets. ABS users work almost entirely in Microsoft Excel, with tracking and management functions taking place in the background. Access is based on user permissions and editing privileges.

SYSTEM AUTOMATES REGULATORY REQUIREMENTS

Three compliance modules for Foster City, Calif.-based Imperva Inc.'s SecureSphere Gateway appliances are designed to enable organizations to meet audit and data protection requirements imposed by the PCI, HIPAA and Sarbanes-Oxley legislations. These modules are individually configured to monitor, assess and report on activity within the data center infrastructure for compliance with the specific security guidelines of these regulations. SecureSphere provides protection and reporting that integrates a database security gateway, web application firewall, network firewall and Intrusion Prevention System.

ENTERPRISE PLATFORM PUT TO THE TEST

Results of a large-scale stress test of NaviSys Enterprise Platform from Edison, N.J.-based NaviSys Inc., showed that at extreme levels (10 million contracts and 500 concurrent users), the typical Web page loaded in less than two seconds, and 200,000 life insurance and annuity end-to-end transactions processed in less than an hour. The platform is designed to enable rapid product introduction and straight-through processing of insurance. The test simulated use at 500,000, 1,000,000, 1,500,000, 2,000,000, 4,000,000 and 10,000,000 contracts and 100, 250 and 500 concurrent users. The user interface testing included new business application entry, policy quoting and financial and non-financial transaction entry.

SECURE REMOTE NETWORK MANAGEMENT

Westborough, Mass.-based provider of on-demand support for on-demand networks ComBrio Inc. has released Version 2.0 of its Virtual Service Infrastructure (VSI). Version 2.0 introduces VSI Service Control, which includes the VSI enterprise module. This module extends mutual consent and control between an IT organization and their third-party service providers giving both the enterprise IT organization and its service provider the ability to maintain bilateral visibility and traceability of all access points and connections. VSI enterprise provides the following new features: mutual consent and control of connections between the enterprise and the third-party service provider; circuit breaker switch for immediate termination of any/all third-party activity; improved security via advanced encryption and authentication techniques; and enhanced regulatory compliance (HIPAA/SOX) via audit logs and local report generation.

DATABASE FILE CONVERTER

DBF Converter from HiBase Group, Seattle, is designed to help businesses integrate database file data repository with other applications, by using a conversion engine to render database file binary data into readable formats following rules and filters set by the user. A few features of DBF Converter include: export DBF files to DBF, CSV, TXT, RTF, PRG, XML and HTML formats; support for clipper/FoxPro/VFP/DB2K DBF file formats; auto DBF file format detection; intuitive user interface; batch processing and supports command line mode.

POLICY ADMINISTRATION PORTAL

NavRisk Policy Administration Portal, a Web-based environment from Unify Corp. Inc., Sacramento, Calif., that extends NavRisk policy and underwriting information to an insurer's prospects, customers and agents, is designed to provide a single, integrated view of exposure, coverage and policy information, automate and shorten the annual renewal process, and improve day-to-day policy administration workload. NavRisk Portal is intended for alternative risk insurance organizations, including risk pools, captives and other self-insured groups, as well as their members and agents.

CLAIMS HANDLING ROUNDS OUT OFFERING

Wynsure Claims, a new addition to Eagan, Minn.-based Wyde Corp.'s Wynsure suite of administration products, is designed to handle claims processing from first notice of loss through benefit payment for life, disability, AD&D and annuity products. With a claims module, Wynsure believes the underlying component-based architecture enables the deployment of one business domain at a time or the complete solution in its entirety. Wynsure is built on a flexible technical framework that can be customized and platform-independent.

ADMINSERVER NOW USABLE WITH SOLARIS 10

AdminServer Inc., Chester, Pa., worked with Sun Microsystem Inc., Santa Clara, Calif., to optimize AdminServer Suite for the Solaris 10 OS, including performance and scalability testing of the J2EE version of the AdminServer System. It is now able to run on Solaris 10 operating system on SPARC, enabling insurers to choose the technology that best suits their unique business needs. Sun Microsystems also expects AdminServer Suite to be available on Solaris 10 x64 servers soon.

GLASS SOLUTION FOR P&C

First Notice Systems Inc., Boston, in partnership with Streamwood, Ill.-based Netcost Claim Services, and Warrenville, Ill.-based ClaimForce Inc., has made available Glass+ Solution to the P&C marketplace. The Glass+ Solution provides carriers with special pricing plans and technological advancements in workflow, performance and optional self-service claims management. The service offering is designed to eliminate potential business model conflicts and assure regulatory compliance. Glass+ combines FNS' three large-scale, fully redundant call centers and ClaimCapture platform with two technology and service delivery companies, ClaimForce and Netcost. The result is a fully integrated end-to-end glass solution.

DATA ANALYTICS SOLUTION

ULTRA IntelliScreen, an analytical solution for generating actionable intelligence from unstructured data displayed on desktop screens, is the latest addition to Melville, N.Y.-based Verint Systems Inc.'s ULTRA Analytics suite consisting of IntelliFind speech analytics and IntelliMiner performance analytics solutions. ULTRA IntelliScreen monitors activity on the desktop screen of a contact center agent or back-office worker and tracks application usage, data entry and screen content. IntelliScreen then analyzes this data and can trigger a broad range of actions and alerts based on the resulting intelligence.
