State Farm Courting Latinos on Facebook

As insurers continue to devise means of engaging consumers on social media platforms, State Farm has launched a new Facebook page aimed at engaging what many industry experts see as a growing and potentially under-served market—the Latino community.

The insurer today announced the launch of State Farm Latino, a new social networking page for Latinos on Facebook.

State Farm says that the page establishes a new way for Latinos to connect with the company—either in English or Spanish—and will offer Facebook users opportunities to participate in polls, share ideas or express opinions on topics that are important to the Latino community.

"Due to the increasing number of Latinos who use Facebook on a daily basis, we have created an online meeting point where all U.S. Hispanics who are fans of State Farm can share or express their ideas and opinions, become informed or just spend a pleasant time with us, in the language of their choice," says Tim Van Hoof, State Farm director of marketing.

To inaugurate the launch of State Farm Latino, State Farm will invite Facebook users to converse about the nominees, presenters and performers leading up to the Latin Billboard Awards on April 28th, of which State Farm is one of the sponsors.
