The Hartford's Middle Market Agents Offered Latest ACORD-XML-based AMS Tool

Hartford, Conn. - ACORD XML standards are going a long way for The Hartford Financial Services Group Inc. The Hartford, Conn. carrier has harnessed the standards to provide its agents with the ability to speed up placement of midsize commercial accounts.

Called eSubmission, the technology allows agents to efficiently submit new business applications directly to The Hartford for general liability, property, casualty, and commercial auto and/or workers' compensation coverage.

The eSubmission system is available to agencies that use AMS Sagitta 5.9. Plans are in the works to make it available later this year to agencies that employ other agency management systems.

The middle market businesses segment is a major focus of The Hartford, confirmed Gary Thompson, senior vice president of Hartford's Middle Market and Specialty Practices.

"We've streamlined most submission tasks so customer service representatives, producers and underwriters can spend their time on the more complex work of evaluating and meeting their customers' needs," he said.

More than two years ago The Hartford introduced electronic acceptance of schedules and other exposure information for new business submissions in the midsize segment through the use of ACORD XML.
