Universal Group to Use Guidewire for Core Transformation

Universal Group Inc., a commercial and personal lines carrier, has selected Guidewire InsuranceSuite to support transforming its core operations, including underwriting, policy administration, rating, billing and claims management.

Universal will begin Phase I of its transformation project by deploying three Guidewire Software core systems simultaneously for its commercial and personal auto lines of business, says Guidewire. As part of this deployment, Universal has teamed with Guidewire PartnerConnect alliance member PwC US for the implementation. 

Guidewire says Universal will use InsuranceSuite to expand its product footprint and regional areas served; accelerate time to market with improved rating, underwriting and new business capabilities; improve efficiency of core operations including FNOL, claims handling, policy administration and billing; and lower IT costs by reducing the applications portfolio.

InsuranceSuite is intended to provide flexible core systems essential to the mission-critical operations of P&C carriers. The suite was designed using a modular approach, says Guidewire, and provides the flexibility insurers need to deliver insurance the way they want to by rapidly delivering better products and service to their policyholders and agents, while improving underwriting discipline and lowering operational costs.
