Women in Insurance Leadership Alum Named to ‘Best 50 Women in Business’ List

Prudential Financial Inc. CIO Barbara Koster was named as a “Best 50 Women in Business” by NJBIZ newspaper.

Winners were selected by an independent panel of judges based on a set of criteria that included holding significant authority for decision-making in a for-profit company; dedication to business growth; professional and personal accomplishments; community involvement and advocacy for women.

Koster also is Prudential’s SVP and head of global business and technology solutions, has oversight responsibility for information technology at all company locations worldwide and ensures the privacy and integrity of Prudential’s information.

Koster has been with Prudential since 1995 and has held a variety of positions, including CIO in the individual life insurance business unit, where she was responsible for technologies that support distribution, policy administration, customer relationship, business strategy, call centers, service delivery, financial systems, information security, business continuation and architecture, says the company.

Back in 2006, Koster was named to INN's first list of the most influential female insurance professionals. Since then, the Women in Insurance Leadership program has taken expanded to include an awards program that honors 10 women annually who make a difference in the industry. The awards also run in conjunction with the Women in Insurance Leadership Forum, which will take place from September 18 to 19 at the Gaylord National Hotel & Convention Center in National Harbor, Md.
