XL Insurance Launches New Risk Unit

XL Insurance reports the establishment of a new department within its professional lines unit that will focus on handling unique, complex insurance risks.

Named CSI for “Complex Situational Insurance,” the new department will be headed by James Loder, who previously served as chief underwriting officer of XLIB Professional Lines and has more than 25 years of experience in the sector.

The new department will be tasked with developing novel solutions to address complex and “one off” non-traditional insurance risks, in addition to handling exposure of a transactional and contingent liability nature, notes XL.

As chief underwriting officer and SVP, Loder will be responsible for the creation of a portfolio of unique risk products beyond the mainstream insurance marketplace as well as the creation and execution of new or modified underwriting strategies.
