Northwestern Mutual names new innovation leader

Northwestern Mutual has announced a leadership transition in its innovation organization.

Alexa von Tobel, chief innovation officer is leaving the company to start a venture fund. Von Tobel, who joined Northwestern Mutual when her startup LearnVest was acquired by the financial services company.

Her former position will be filled by Souheil Badran, who will be responsible for identifying innovation opportunities within the community and analyze venture capital funds.

John Schlifske, CEO of Northwestern Mutual Life says, “I want to thank Alexa for helping us think bigger and expand our lens on innovation and our digital experience work. We plan to continue working together in business ventures as she takes this next step that she’s chosen to pursue in the innovation space.”

“We look forward to having Souheil join our senior leadership team -- his experience and track record make him the perfect successor for our top innovation role,” he adds.

Badran was president for Americas of Aibaba’s Alipay Ant Financial and has great experience as a executive leader in financial and operational leadership with Fortune 250 and high-growth venture organizations.
