Healthcare benefits company Aetna is deploying the HealthRules product suite from HealthEdge “to change the way that healthcare is evaluated, purchased and delivered as part of Aetna’s effort to transform the healthcare system,” according to HealthRules.
Aetna selected the product suite, which combines health management and healthcare technologies, for its ability to provide flexible product and benefit designs, network configurations and real-time claims processing.
“The HealthEdge technology connects consumers, providers and payors through its administrative platform,” said Teresa Wankum, Aetna VP of customer service operations.
HealthRules will enable Aetna to support new marketplace opportunities such as private exchanges and to automate manual business processes “as we work to deliver solutions to consumers that are affordable, convenient and enabled by technology,” Wankum said.
HealthEdge provides an integrated financial, administrative and clinical platform for healthcare payors.
