Armed Forces Benefit Association (AFBA), which provides life insurance products and other financial benefits and services, and 5Star Life Insurance Co. (5Star Life), underwriter of AFBA member policies and provider of supplemental and other voluntary life insurance products, have hired David Orr as SVP and chief actuary of 5Star Life to lead pricing, product development and the implementation of a risk management style.
Orr comes to 5Star Life having held various leadership positions with Legal & General America in research and development, actuarial, marketing, product development and underwriting, AFBA said. In his most recent role as SVP and chief actuary, he was responsible for corporate oversight of actuarial practices.
Orr is a fellow of the Institute of Actuaries, a member of the American Academy of Actuaries and an associate of the Society of Actuaries, AFBA said.
