Aflac hires new digital and IT leader

Aflac has hired Richard L. Gilbert as its new SVP and chief digital information officer, a newly designated position.

Gilbert both will supervise the carrier's new Digital Innovation office and manage its traditional IT strategy. He last was with with DXC Technology as VP of Business Enablement and IT Service Management. Gilbert reports to Virgil Miller, EVP and COO of Aflac.

Aflac's previous CIO, Julia Davis, left the company some months back, a spokesperson confirmed to Digital Insurance.

Teresa White, President of Aflac U.S., added, “As the company continues to press forward and innovate in the digital space, I am pleased that Rich is joining the team to lead Aflac's efforts in these areas. He brings a wealth of experience to the role which will provide tremendous value to our policyholders, shareholders, employees and sales force."
