Aflac Names Sales, Marketing Chiefs

Columbus, Ga. — Aflac Inc. has announced two new top-level appointments in its sales and marketing divisions, according to a company statement.

M. Jeffrey Charney has been tapped to be the Columbus, Ga.-based insurer's SVP and chief marketing officer for its U.S. efforts, effective immediately, while Ronald Sanders will take his post Nov. 15 as SVP and deputy director of sales, the company said.

Sanders' duties will have him supporting Ronald Kirkland, Aflac's SVP and director of sales, who is due to retire in December 2009. Based in Texas, Sanders serves currently as Aflac's VP and director for its southwest region.

A marketing veteran, Charney comes to the company from a post as SVP and chief marketing officer with retailer QVC Inc. In the past, he has worked in an executive capacity with Seattle-based Washington Mutual Inc.

Kirkland has served as Aflac's SVP and director of sales for its U.S. efforts since 2005.
