AIG hires new chief claims officer from XL Catlin

AIG has appointed Anthony Vidovich as new chief claims officer of its general insurance division, effective May 14.

Vidovich comes to the insurer by way of XL Catlin, where he last served as global head of claims for insurance and reinsurance since 2015. The industry vet is now responsible for the strategic direction and governance of AIG’s claims operation, reporting to Peter Zaffino, CEO of general insurance. His hire also follows AIG’s move to snag Tom Bolt as chief underwriting officer from Berkshire Hathaway in December.

“Anthony is an accomplished property and casualty executive with a demonstrated track record of managing complex claims and legal issues,” said Zaffino, in a statement. “His significant industry expertise and experience building high performing global teams will be valued additions in this very important role for general insurance.”

Last fall, AIG reshuffled its organizational infrastructure, doing away with its commercial and consumer lines of business. Both its general insurance business, encompassing commercial, personal insurance and U.S. and international field operations, and a life & retirement unit were formed as a result of the decision. So too was a brand new technology subsidiary led by former Hamilton USA CEO Seraina Macia.

“I am very pleased to join AIG’s General Insurance leadership team as our industry faces new and more complex risks,” said Vidovich. “I look forward to working with AIG colleagues around the world to deliver strong claims capabilities in local markets on behalf of our clients.”
