Allstate Insurance Co. plans to open at least 140 agencies in Texas, paralleling Census Bureau data showing steady population growth there. Allstate says its Texas recruiting goals for 2011 are segmented by area across the state: Dallas-Fort Worth – 40, central Texas (San Antonio and Austin) – 30, Houston – 25, east Texas – 15, west Texas – 15 and south Texas – 10. Further growth plans include adding 120 agency owners in California during 2011, says the company.

Allstate says ideal candidates would have strong management, customer service and sales skills, and at least $50,000 in liquid capital to open and start an Allstate agency.

The company is encouraging its new and existing California agencies to hire 600-plus licensed sales professionals as¬ part of a plan to significantly grow its California auto business. Allstate says interested candidates can learn more by visiting www.allstateagent.com, or contacting Linda Black at 916-859-8804 or Linda.Black@Allstate.com.
