American Century Life Accepts Bitcoins

American Century Life Insurance Company of Texas now accepts payments in Bitcoins, a digital currency and online payment system, which the company said is an effort to use technology to make life insurance products more accessible and easier to buy and maintain.

"Life insurance policies are important products to our clients and can help them in the most stressful and challenging situation,” said Raz Silberman, American Century’s president and owner. “We want to make sure they can pay for their policy in any way they prefer.”

Clients can pay premiums with cash, checks, bank drafts, credit cards and bitcoins, as American Century believes that new technologies, such as mobile and wearables, will enable the company to communicate better and more frequently with clients and build long-term relationship with them, and change the way insurance is sold, policies are serviced and capital is pooled to manage risk. "We want to make a difference in the lives of our policy holders and build a long term relationship with them." Silberman said.
