Answer Financial Rolls Out Mobile UBI Offering

Answer Financial, an Allstate company, has released a new usage-based insurance app, Streetwide Drivers Club, the insurer announced today.

The free mobile app, available to both iPhone and Android users, allows customers to earn rewards points toward gift cards on popular brands and restaurants and receive discounts on premiums. Additionally, new app users receive 10,000 rewards points upon signing up, Answer Financial said.

“Streetwise is like a Fitbit for drivers, providing feedback after each trip to help people better understand the way they drive,” said Rob Slingerland, Answer Financial CEO, in a statement. “Most Americans already think they are excellent drivers. The Streetwise app gives them a chance to prove it and earn rewards along the way.”

Streetwise Drivers Club app utilizes GPS technology in smartphones to capture driving characteristics such as distance, speed, and how hard someone brakes. The information is then provided to drivers after each trip to help them modify potential reckless driving behavior.

Answer Financial’s mobile app follows Esurance’s release of its mobile UBI offering in June. Both companies were acquired by Allstate in October 2011.
