Aspen Names Ann Haugh as Global Chief Underwriting Officer

Aspen Insurance announced three senior management appointments recently, and notably among them, Ann Haugh has joined Aspen Insurance as global chief underwriting officer and COO, a new position within the insurance business, and will be based in London. Haugh was group chief of staff for Zurich in Switzerland and has experience in underwriting and operations.

Aspen adds that Haugh was previously CEO for Zurich’s global corporate business in the United Kingdom and, prior, was COO for Zurich’s entire global corporate business. Before this, she worked for Great American Insurance Co. as an executive liability underwriter, before moving to broader roles at Zurich US, Arch and Zurich Group.

Aspen is creating integrated P&C sub-segments in both its international and U.S. operations. Bob Patten, current head of global excess casualty, and Bob Rheel, EVP, customer, distribution and marketing for U.S. insurance, have been appointed co-heads of Aspen’s global P&C business, according to the company. Patten will be head of international P&C, while Rheel will be head of U.S. P&C and programs (in addition to his existing responsibilities).
