Assurant Inc., a provider of specialty insurance and insurance-related products and services, has named Larry Port as SVP, corporate development. Port will be responsible for leading mergers, acquisitions, divestitures, joint ventures and related activities to support long-term, strategic growth at Assurant.
Assurant says Port will coordinate and align related activities across the four Assurant businesses and for the company as a whole. He will report to Assurant's EVP and treasurer, Christopher J. Pagano, and EVP, marketing and business development, Alan B. Colberg.
Port brings more than 35 years of experience to his new role, says Assurant, most recently, serving as president of MassMutual Capital Partners. Prior, he held a variety of senior leadership roles of increasing responsibility at the mutual life insurance company. Before joining the insurance industry, Port worked in the energy industry at Texaco Inc. He began his career practicing corporate tax and sports law at Goldberg & Snodgrass.
