AssureStart Insurance Agency Inc., a small business insurer backed by American Family Mutual Insurance Co., has named Greg Tacchetti president and CEO.
Tacchetti also was elected to the AssureStar’s board of directors. He succeeds Mike LaRocco, who stepped down as CEO, and with whom he co-founded the company. AssureStart sells business property and general liability insurance to small businesses online. According to the insurer, it leverages new technology, a paperless process, and more efficient distribution to cut down on the expenses that often “saddle traditional insurance companies.” Tacchetti most recently served as the company’s COO, responsible for financial operations.

With 22 years of insurance experience, Tacchetti was chief administrative officer at Firemen’s Fund from 2008 to 2011, before establishing AssureStart. Prior, he served as senior VP of P&C financial operations at Safeco and as northeast operations director at GEICO.
“Greg is an accomplished leader who will oversee AssureStart’s ongoing national expansion,” said Dan Schultz, president and COO of American Family Mutual Insurance Co. and member of the AssureStart board. “We are confident in his ability to lead the AssureStart team and take the company to the next level of success.”
