Aviva Canada has partnered with insurtech Snapsheet, a provider of SaaS claims technology, to expedite auto claims for its policyholders.
To file a claim, customers take photos of car damage and submit first notice of losses through Aviva’s newly-created mobile app, AvivaExpress, developed in collaboration with Snapsheet. The Chicago-based startup then assesses vehicle wreckage and calculates repair costs based on its database of legacy claims data. Its database includes information such as car model, year and type of damage.
Prior to Aviva Canada roll out, the carrier piloted Snapsheet’s technology and found 93% of customers chose to opt in to the new claims platform. It also determined claims were settled up to 40% faster using the insurtech's software.
“The results from our pilot program showed an immense improvement to our customers’ claims journey,” said Lynn Anderson, Aviva Canada’s Interim chief claims officer, in a statement. “The time it takes for an estimate to be completed is significantly reduced, helping defy uncertainty for our customers.”
In October, Snapsheet also announced a partnership with KeyBank to create Snapsheet Transactions—a tool helping insurers digitally pay out claims rather than relying on snail mail. Snapsheet currently provides auto virtual claims processing through the use of machine learning and image analytics to more than 50 insurance industry partners.
“We believe the claims process should be simple,” said Brad Weisberg Snapsheet CEO and co-founder. “While most carriers recognize this as well, few have access to the technology to make it possible. We aim to bridge the gap between carriers and virtual claims technology everywhere.”
